Sher Bagh lies just a few kilometres from the Ranthambore National Park entrance and offers a pukka jungle experience. Sher Bagh undoubtedly one of the most authentic and stylish camps in Ranthambore and is set in an area of woodland and farmland, on a private estate, at the edge of the reserve This site itself is frequented by over 200 species of birds, jungle cats, antelope and wild boar. Even leopard and occasionally tigers have been spotted or heard near the camp. It is well away from the town, off the main road and is surrounded by the Aravali ranges, the oldest ranges in the world.
Accessibility
By Air: To Jaipur from Delhi, Bombay, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Calcutta, followed by a 3 and a half hour drive. Or by helicopter to Sawai Madhopur.
By Train: To Sawai Madhopur from Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur Bharatpur, followed by a 20 minute drive.
By Road: From Kota or Jaipur or by a longer journey from Agra.
Transfers: The resort is happy to arrange transfers (included in the room rate) from either the helipad or the railway station to / from the hotel.
Accommodation at Sher Bagh comprises 12 very luxurious tents arranged in a semi-circle in an open clearing in the woodland. All tents have double beds but they can be made into twin beds if given notice.
All the tents at Sher Bagh have fans during the warm months. They are spacious and stylishly decorated and have very comfortable, proper beds. They have electric light and excellent, modern, permanent, attached bathrooms (with showers).
The tents at Sher Bagh are arranged in a semi-circle and due to the nature of their canvas structure, noise does carry! Each tent has its own, small verandah in front. Hair dryers can be provided on request. Hot water bottles are provided through the winter. Hot water is plentiful. Heaters are also provided for the colder months. Two small bottles of complimentary mineral water per tent per day is provided. All tents are no smoking. There is easy access for wheelchairs through the camp.
Dining
There are two restaurants - The Dining Tent and The Library Bar - which offer delicious Continental and Indian cuisine. The Sher Bagh camp offers a Italian buffet for lunch and Indian for Dinner but the camp chef will be happy to cook you something off the set menu if you let him know in advance. Al-fresco Thaali dinner around the campfire is a unique dining experience at Sher Bagh, not to be missed. Room service is readily available. Alcohol is also served in the camp and they have a good international wine list. The daily room rate includes all meals.
